Today is the kind of hot, overcast and sweaty day that makes you really snoozy which means that Baby N's afternoon nap is very much appreciated today!
Sweaty - you know when you ask yourself "Did I skip my morning shower today?" even though you know full well that you didn't? Yup, that's how sweaty this day is. Went upstairs to change Baby N's nappy and sweat went "flowing" down my back. Not so nice.
While on the subject of "hotness" - I may not have lost enough weight to make me a skinny bride but my legs are looking good. very good, in fact - if I may say so myself. Now I've got to find something to wear that'll show 'em off!
Also heard a "I saw you yesterday at so and so" which means that person saw me being well p-ed off with Boyfriend for making us late... oh well - yesterday was also a hot-sweaty kind of day when tempers run high.
Oh hell, who am I kidding? My temper is always running high!

Dream On
I dreamt that I packed my riding boots into my Louis Vuitton Trunk for a trip, God knows where. After the boots, some colourful cashmere tops followed and then there wasn't much space left.
I guess there's no point in buying such an expensive travel case if it's so poor on actual space and especially not since I no longer own a pair of riding boots. But I almost fancy buying both items because it looked pretty darn good in my dream.
I wonder what it means...

Tired. Can You Tell?
Our microwave is slowly dying. I've disliked it from day 1 but it's worked and I've had somewhere to "cook" my micro popcorn and heat Baby N's food. But it's not until it's started dying while cooking Boyfriend's porridge that it's on the agenda to find a new one.
Our bed is too soft and "sticky out-y" at the foot end (bang a knee it the middle of the night and see how you'd like it). I've hated it since Day 1 and it's caused me back ache since Day 1 as well. But it's not until Boyfriend's back starts hurting that it's on the agenda to, as a start, change the mattress.
Baby N's teeth are hurting - again. I've loved Baby N from Day 1 but the teething-business? Not so much. I am tired. "Babies love routine and should therefore have same routine everyday." Not so bloody easy when he wakes up extra early and therefore wants his morning nap at the time he usually wakes up. Whoever writes those shitty books can come and carry him around until his its time for his scheduled nap. I bet those people haven't got any children. Bitches.
Tired. Can you tell?

Bring it on!
... or off
Shingles sucks, let's be honest. But, apparently it also makes you lose weight!! Probably because i was too tired to even remember eating. "Every cloud..." and all that positive thinking nonsense.

Oh Yes!
The sun is shining from a clear blue sky but it does not warm you up at all. I'm thinking we're heading towards winter. And that means all my snuggly lovely cardigans are to re-enter my wardrobe. I love cardigans! The only difference from previous years is that I will have to try and keep a drooling, mucky little Baby N away from them... I have a feeling many a cardigans will die a "stainfull" death.
Isn't it a harsh life I lead?

Pathetic Fear
Have planned to go to one of those baby-meets tomorrow. The only problem is that I am such a wimp when it comes to going somewhere new. I can travel across the world (Samoa) on my own without hesitation but going to the canteen at work (it took me 8 months), the gym in the little place I worked at in Sweden (probably 6 months), the little cafe around the corner (never been) is something I dread.
Don't ask me why but that's the way I've always been. The big things I can do, the small stuff? Not so much. Which is why I am feeling a bit nervous about tomorrow. Which door do I use - I stress if I know a place has more than one front door - ? And on it goes.
I'll be fine once I've been and know where to go but before then ...
God, I am so pathetic!
Update: I've been and it was lovely. Baby N was excited by all the other babies and sat on his own (!) and lunged forward to grab a car. Typical boy, now I have to buy him a car as we haven't got one... I did, of course, use the wrong stupid door but sorted it out, all on my own. I might just be a grown up after all!

How about that...
... Mel Gibson? He sure oozes eloquence in his conversations with his "Baby Momma".
Will he blame booze yet again for his racist remarks? It's funny, I' didn't know alcohol could make a person a racist. They usually already are.
I bet he doesn't mind "them" paying to see/own his movies...
Bigot.

Vanity, Thy Name is Ems
Am in dire need of a pedicure or it will be no sandals/cute shoes all summer long. I may not have the post-pregnancy body of a celeb -- who, by now, would have been back to the pre-preggo state and even a bit slimmer -- but at least I can try to have pretty feet. My heals currently have cracks so big I could fall into them myself...
Last year's summer nail-polish was coral, does anyone know what the colour is this year? I have somehow missed that bit of advice.
Btw, I try not to get too political* on this blog but I feel it was very naughty** of Israel to board those ships while on International water. One can always hope someone in the UN slaps their fingers hard. Tut tut tut.
* I bet you didn't know that I spent a semester studying Political Anthropology. Am not a total airhead.
*Let's be honest, it's pretty shitty behaviour and totally out of order.

In Which I...
... think I ate too much.
My tummy is like this [ -------------------- ] big.
It's huuuuuge!
... don't think I chewed it enough.
The Chicken seems to be still alive.
Yuck!
((But it really is the best feeling ever!!))

Yummy in my Tummy
I made pancakes for dinner tonight.
I think I'd kill for pancakes if had to.
I love pancakes.
Pancakes rule.
I think I'd kill for pancakes if had to.
I'd probably even dump Boyfriend if he
ate my share of the pancakes.
ate my share of the pancakes.
In fact, there's no "probably" about it...

Goodness
I just watched Ice Dreams - one of those sappy, feel good tv-movies and I loved it. Got a bit tearyeyed as well. And how can you not like it? The main girl is played by Jessica Cauffiel, who played Margot in both Legally Blonde movies (love her!).
Yep, just what I needed.
Yep, just what I needed.
In Which It Is Up & Down
This stress I'm feeling at the moment is starting to stress me out.
How's that for ironic?!
Yesterday it almost got me but I managed to fend it off.
I didn't exactly "hit the wall"
but
I think I ran into the doorpost
and it scared me.
I had a little cry in the Ladies and then I felt better.
Sad? Yes!
Needed? Absolutely!
All I can do is try and laugh.
Ha ha ha.

I wanna be like you-oh-oh
I love this video... How cool is this dad?! Most parents would have kept on going in the car to take their post-dentist-drugged-up child home. But not this one... he films it!!
Awesome!

Am I too Picky?
I've lost my phone - or broke it. Whatever. I can't find it anyway so I've been looking for a good monthly deal. Yes, you've heard it. Ems is looking to abandon the faithful Pay as You Go scheme!
Well, to be perfectly honest - the Pay As You Go here is so crappy that it's not even worth the trouble. And for various reasons I will be needing to be able to contact Boyfriend without worrying about "do I have enough credit?" etc. I had my eyes on a particular phone with a low monthly fee that'd give me a decent amount of free minutes and texts (perfect) but it turned out to not be such a good deal after all. Am I surprised?
I want a decent looking phone, not too plastic, not a "slide", definitely not a Samsung and preferably Sony Ericson, Nokia or Blackberry. I don't care about how many mega pixels the camera has as I have an awesome SLR and I'm not bothered about how many songs it'll fit (that's what my pink Zen stone is for). I need a P H O N E to text and call people with, and the option to get Internet if I ever were to want it (doubt it). But most of them are too boyish or too plastic - white with golden buttons? Nope, not quite my style... *shudder*
Am I asking too much of a phone?

These Boos Are Made For Walking...
I just watched "Kinky Boots"on DVD, a film I've wanted to see for a very long time. It was really nice and sweet. It's quite an obvious film, if you want massive surprises and twists then this is not the film for you. It's about a struggling shoe factory and their only chance of survival is to change niche - from men's shoes to men's shoes but with a transvestite/drag queen tint to it.
I laughed out loud and realised that I'd love to be able to make my own shoes. Or just shoes, for that matter... Cool huh? It'll have to be in another life. Too busy [lazy] in this one. But it would have been fun.
Oh, I've realised one more itsy bitsy good thing about the UK. No "Surstromming". Don't tell Boyfriend though, he's keeping a score on things I prefer here that to Sweden. I think we may be on 5 items now so good ol' motherland is still winning by about a trillion points...

A Viking in a Lehenga Choli
So this huge 3 day wedding is coming up. only 2 more days. I am looking forward to it but I am also a bit apprehensive - 3 days! Can I be sociable for 3 days or will I leave the wedding with less friends [than I already have]? Oh well, I've got some awesome clothes. Friday evening's outfit more or less sorted. Saturday's (2 outfits) sorted and also Sunday's wedding ceremony (trad. Indian outfit and accessories) and a really nice [and flattering despite my humongous arse] pencil skirt and coral [this summer's new black] coloured top for the reception.
Lots of money spent but all can be worn again - although I'm struggling to come up with a reason to wear the Lehenga Choli but I guess it can always go in the fancy dress "look-what-grandma-once-wore" part of the closet.
Have I mentioned that we're seriously looking for houses? It's scary as hell but exciting to plan doing up a house to our [read: my!] liking. Let's face it; it'll be how I want it. The Scandinavian rules the roost over the English - just like the Vikings once did (before they realised what a rainy dump this was and left for better places). I am yet to be able to tie the English one up and bring him back across to better lands but one day, mark my words, one day!

Sandra Bullock
Boyfriend and I went to see The Proposal last night. You know, the one with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. I am, and have been for a very long time, a big fan of Sandra Bullock* so watching this movie was an absolute must. To be fair, Ryan Reynolds was really good in it as well and them two together made the movie. They were brilliant! I loved it and before it had started properly I just knew it'd be a move I'd watch over and over again. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD!!
I'd even go so far to say I wouldn't mind seeing it again! Maybe I'll take a trip to the cinema if I'm on my own one evening. Boyfriend also liked it and laughed out loud a couple of time - this is almost unheard of when we watch one of "my" films and that made The Proposal even better!

In Which There is Greed
People are starving. Thrown in jail for expressing an opinion
(I'd be in for life several times over).
Getting killed in war, accidents and non-accidents.

And I?
I just want to shop shop shop! Am now pondering about a bracelet for £55.
Sooo pretty!
I am a horrible person.

In Which I Almost Got Religion
I usually go to the city centre to buy a salad or a sandwich for lunch and there are days when it's completely void of human life - just the nasty pigeons. And.... the people asking/begging you to set up a monthly direct debit to support just their charity as the "others are also doing good but ours is remarkably good!"
Some don't even respect the fact that you're faking a phone conversation! I mean, how rude is that? They come up really close [Hellooo? personal space, anyone?] and if it was allowed they'd take your card details without asking. Fuckers.
The very truthful excuse "I'm sorry, I'm on my lunch and I have to get back soon" doesn't really do it either. Then there are the more imaginative ones when trying to get your attention; "Hello, lady with the lovely shoes/handbag/pretty blonde hair/blue eyes" If you've got it, it's the best thing ever!
Whatever happened to the little "cups" that you could put spare change in? They used to be grateful for whatever you had but not any-more" No siree - they want your account details for a monthly "donation"!
When I can't help myself, I stop and have a chat with them I usually use my no.1 excuse. It's brilliant and you're more than welcome to use it:
"This sounds very interesting! Do you have a website I can look at the details? I try to rotate the charities I donate to on a 6 month basis and this sounds like something I'd like to donate to when it's time to swap."
Of course, it won't happen. If I wanted to donate to a particular charity, I would, and this without being hassled.
But today! Today I saw something that I would have donated all my money to. And my clothes as well! These guys, however, were not out to get money donations. They wanted my soul. They were mormons and may God forgive me but I thought hardcore mormons would be... erm ...unattractive.
Holy Shit! They were gorgeous! Model material. And despite their crisp and sharp suits, or maybe due to?, I just wanted to rip all their clothes off and devour them in a very un-Christian manner. Right then and there. On top of their Book of Mormon and everything. All 3 at once. And had they asked me if I wanted to join I would have said "hell yeah!" and followed them to Salt Lake City, Utah and wear whatever kind of attire they put before me.
No, not really, as I am a betrothed woman, but Jiiiiizes - them boys were mighty fine!

*The calendar doesn't do these particular boys full justice but you get the picture.

In Which I'm Still on the Subject of Dan Brown
A rainy day. A good day. Parcel from Amazon waiting for me after work. Books. Because I have so much space to spare...
And I have heard a lot about Dan Shit-Author Brown's film Angel & Demons. Apparently quite good. Really? Better than the Da Vinci Code or worse? It'd be difficult to be worse and easy to be better. Am I too cynical? Can Tom Hanks really take it any further? Do I want to spend money and time to watch a "straight to TV", Hallmark kind of film?
I am, however, quite keen to watch Star Trek and Is Anybody There. We will probably buy the latter but I do want to see Star Trek on the big screen.
Anyhow - Boyfriend's out celebrating B's birthday. I am watching Star Trek Deep Space Nine which I borrowed of a guy at work. It hasn't started off too badly... although there are a lot of episodes.
and on that note:
