I don't want to make this blog into a pregnancy/baby blog but it's difficult not to as it's such a big part of our lives and to be honest my life isn't really exciting so I haven't got much to write about anyway.
Boyfriend's come back after a weekend of music/gigs and God knows what else they got up to. I didn't like being on my own, at all. It's usually something I look forward to as I'm not always the most social person and sometimes it's just nice to be alone and do what I like and have a meaningful and intelligent conversation [with myself]. But not this time.
So when Boyfriend came home yesterday I told him that it will be a looooong time before I let him leave me alone for so many days (he also went to London last week for an exam so I was alone for 6 days/7 nights*. And early this morning I actually enjoyed hearing him snore but that wore off after 10 minutes and I went back to the normal routine of me kicking his shins to get him to move.
It really is nice to have him back home.
*Good movie btw.

In Which I Am Scared
I used to love horror movies. No, strike that. I used to L O V E horror movies and then I
watched The Descent and that was it. I was frightened sh**less and since then I've been less enthusiastic. Don't get me wrong, I've still had the longing to watch something scary but the idea makes my heart race, sweat to break out and I keep looking over my shoulder to make sure there's nothing there and ... I always make sure I have an escaperoute planned. All things that verge on being slightly paranoid.
But. I am determined to get back to the stuff that makes me jump and all that comes with a good horror movie - apart from the need of a good shrink afterwards - and I try as best I can. Andyet I constantly fail.
Zavvis has gone into administration so they're selling their stock dirt cheap. Books, vinyl, DVDs, CDs etc etc. Yesterday I had another look arounf and bought the whole series of "Planet Earth" for only £9!! Whilst walking around I came to the horror section. I ignored the "D" section as I know from previous experience that I'll start hyperventilating. Anyway, I found a DVD that looked promising and subsequently bought it and then I spent all night having nightmares and they were a lot worse than a picture of Amy Winehouse in her shorts.
Great, just great! I've got the darned thing in my flat. It causes me nightmares and Boyfriend is on nights. It's always night in the horror movies and it's almost night here. Luckily, we live on the 1st floor so not too big a drop out of the window if needs be.

Showing my age
I stopped by HMV on my way home from work yesterday. There was one thing that I needed (yes, needed) and it was series 6 of The Sopranos. I did buy The Sopranos but I also saw something that took me back quite a few years... I was walking along the isles filled with DVDs when suddenly. I. Saw. It. A movie I saw ages ago - and I mean aaaaages ago - Adventures in Babysitting from 1987.Jeez, that was the year before Brother was born and I was probably pestering my parents for a dog and a pony (it did pay off) and I vividly remember this movie. SO much fun and I thought Elisabeth Shue was so pretty and....having such cooooool clothes.
As far as being pretty I still think she is but the cool clothes? Not so much. Maybe it's because I lived through all of the 80's and started getting into wearing...eh...cool clothes but I've hated all the retro 80's clothes that's been in fashion during the past year. horror. Saying that though, I'm really looking forward to sitting down with a bowl of popcorn, some "light" brown fizzy drink and just enjoy.*
*Boyfriend will just have to suck it up as I had to put up with him reading/studying a gynaecology book in bed last night... not exactly something I need to see right before going to bed. Even if this rotation doesn't make him dislike 'coffee', I think I will....
**Not me in picture nor is it a relative of any kind. But it could have been me.

Mamma Mia
Boyfriend and I went to Cineworld last night and watched Mamma Mia - the movie. It's a nice, happy film and if you like Abba's music, then this is something for you. I haven't seen the musical and I don't think I need to now. And yes, there are some cringe-worthy moments and sometimes the transition from talking ot singing can be a bit coarse but it works as a whole and there are some definite perks about seeing it;
Colin Firth is so sexy that I'm almost unable to sit still whenever he's on the screen. Meryl Streep is looking radiant and the whole cast is funny and if you leave without smiling then you're a miserable f**k.
The only bad thing about Mamma Mia is Pierce Brosnan. Not only is he as slimier than ever but. Oh. My. God! Did they not check their singing abilities?! Cos Brosnan sure as hell can't sing. I'd be inclined to say that the man is bordering on being extremely tone-deaf.
And I'm willing to say that Firth isn't a great singer but it had substance and unlike Brosnan it wasn't totally flat. Whenever Brosnan opened his mouth I experienced a toe-curling moment. Not to mention that his American accent was appalling (boyfriend didn't even realise that Brosnan was supposed to be American) and surely they should have been able to find a middleaged American actor with a decent singing voice??
Anyway, I left the place laughing and feeling total bliss as I had heard some good music (not just the worn out Abba songs) and Colin Firth.
Did I say that I think he's fantastic?

Death at a Funeral
Absolute gem of comedy about two brothers discovering the secrets of their father on the day of his funeral and trying to keep it quiet for the sake of their mom and also to honour their dad.
Rarely have I laughed as much as I did when watching this movie. I was worried I would be asked to leave... Brilliant acting (watch out for 'Simon').
Words can not do this movie justice, so I'll just leave it at that.

Ratatouille
I've forgotten to say that we saw Ratatouille the night before our holiday. It was fantastic!! I was slightly worried about Boyfriend as he isn't as enthusiastic about animated movies as I am. But! He absolutely loved it! He says it's one of his absolute favourite movies this year (I couldn't say a word for a minute -that's how much it shocked me!).
I loved the little rat, Remy, soooo cute. The story was good and for once, it was more of a realistic ending rather than the perfect ones we've gotten so used to see.
You really should go see it if you haven't and I'm sure we wouldn't have been food-poisoned if Remy had cooked our food rather than that pompous French Bastard!*
* I'm also sure that it had nothing to do with him being French but that's how we refer to him when we vent our anger for getting so ill.

Eastern Promises
Viggo Mortensen is acting his clothes off in this movie, literally! He gets naked during (before) a fight in a steam room (I know!!) and it distracted a bit from the fighting which was, as Boyfriend told me, quite violent. Naomi Watts isn't bad either as the one bringing it all to light. Is it just me who thinks she is a lot prettier than she used to be?
The story line, trafficking, is relevant as we are now more aware than ever that [sex] slavery isn't something that just happens "elsewhere" or is a thing of the past.
The only thing is that I was amazed over the fact that she never once seemed to ask herself whether it was a good or a bad idea to go to someone who might have be connected to a [dead] 14-year old Russian prostitute -especially as it is fairly well known that a lot of Eastern girls are forced into said profession by not so nice people. I know I wouldn't knock on someone's door asking if they knew so and so and in what way... Hand it over to the police - that's what I say!
I really liked Eastern Promises and not just because of Mortenson's arse (or whomever it belongs to). I'd watch it again!!

Atonement
...wasn't too bad. I had expected it to bee worse and Miss Knightley wasn't as annoying as she usually is. James McAvoy is nothing short of being eye-candy. Yum yum! What I didn't like was that they seemed to have cut quite a bit in the middle where all of a sudden you went "what? Oh, I see! Nope, that was not it..." And in the end it was difficult to feel sympathy towards the person you were supposed to feel sorry for. I just went. Die bitch, die!
Anyway, the clothes were fantastic! And the wallpaper in Briony's room was heavenly. Really nice actually. Did I mention that it was worth going just to see James McAvoy?
