I have come to realise that when your child gets a cold, you get one too. And it's no wonder with the snotty kisses, in-your-face-sneezes, wanting to feed you a soggy piece of pancake and the nose to nose morning snoozes.
How could I refuse any of the above [yucky as some of it is]?! He's just wanting to show how much he loves his mommy. And that is the best feeling in the world!

For where thou art, there is the world itself
The Little Man has moved into his own room and guess who cried when she saw The Love of Her Life sit in his cot when we'd moved it? Yup, that's right. Me! He looked more like a "boy" than a "baby" and it hit me that he's growing up so fast. Soon he'll be off to Uni.
He doesn't have any problem going to sleep in his nursery. It's a lot cosier than our room and warmer. He does seem to get a bit upset if he wakes up in the middle of the night but it's probably because it looks different to what he's used to. And he doesn't hear us as easily.
This morning he woke up at 5-ish so Boyfriend put him in our bed where Baby N quickly fell asleep with his forehead pressed agains mine and a fist full of my hair - you learn how to snooze and to be very still - and this is how we were until 7.30! And after a nice big bottle of formula he was happy stay and cuddle until 8am when we felt the lie-in had gotten a bit too indulgent!
I know I moan about sleepless nights and it it very tiring to have a baby but it's the best thing that's ever happened to me and there are no words to try and explain the love for this tiiiny human being who, despite his size, has characteristics and opinions just like a full grown person. Baby N is my World and my Love.

Dear CIA
Dear Sir/Madam/To whom it may concern,
In this day and age when we have to think about recycling and sustainability and where a huge amount of the earth's population does not have access to clean and safe water, there must be an alternative to water-boarding the detainees at Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere. I am sure that most of the water goes on the floor and is therefore 'wasted'. As a concerned citizen of the world, I feel I have to do my part to help.
Instead of using water-boarding to get people to talk, which by the way must be ever so difficult to do when you've got a mouth and a set of lungs full of water (do you get special training to be able to understand what they say? Sort of like dentists?), I believe that you should record a screaming/whinging baby. Let me tell you, this is a gold mine. Not only is it sustainable - you can use the same baby more than once - but it's also very, very effective.
My baby is 6 months old and while he is the cutest and usually very happy and smiling, the few hours where teething causes him to scream makes me want to do anything. Hell, I'd even tell you where Bin Laden is hiding and what happened to Jimmy Hoffa.
So if you'd like me to, I'll send you a recording of Baby N crying due to teething but I am sure there are babies much closer than we are and again, we do have to think about transport and its effects on the environment. It's just an idea but I'm sure you'll have them queuing up to the confession room like a church full of catholics (slightly ironic, isn't it?) after only a little while. The water saved can go on flowerbeds to brighten the place up, it's looks very grey on television but perhaps the TV-screen does not reflect a true representation of the place?
Sincerely,
Ems & Baby N

Oh Yes!
The sun is shining from a clear blue sky but it does not warm you up at all. I'm thinking we're heading towards winter. And that means all my snuggly lovely cardigans are to re-enter my wardrobe. I love cardigans! The only difference from previous years is that I will have to try and keep a drooling, mucky little Baby N away from them... I have a feeling many a cardigans will die a "stainfull" death.
Isn't it a harsh life I lead?

Pathetic Fear
Have planned to go to one of those baby-meets tomorrow. The only problem is that I am such a wimp when it comes to going somewhere new. I can travel across the world (Samoa) on my own without hesitation but going to the canteen at work (it took me 8 months), the gym in the little place I worked at in Sweden (probably 6 months), the little cafe around the corner (never been) is something I dread.
Don't ask me why but that's the way I've always been. The big things I can do, the small stuff? Not so much. Which is why I am feeling a bit nervous about tomorrow. Which door do I use - I stress if I know a place has more than one front door - ? And on it goes.
I'll be fine once I've been and know where to go but before then ...
God, I am so pathetic!
Update: I've been and it was lovely. Baby N was excited by all the other babies and sat on his own (!) and lunged forward to grab a car. Typical boy, now I have to buy him a car as we haven't got one... I did, of course, use the wrong stupid door but sorted it out, all on my own. I might just be a grown up after all!

Update
So, my mom has left after a wonderful week. Wonderful for me, that is... Mom took Baby N at night and then she did loads around the house and garden to help me out and because she hates sitting around without anything to do.
This means I had a great opportunity to rest. Not that I slept a lot but just the knowledge that someone was here if I needed a rest made me feel loads better and stress less. The pain from the shingles is still pretty bad but the pain was never the problem. Like I've said before, I'm a hard ass when it comes to pain but it was being exhausted that was the problem.
I felt I was dangerous to Baby N as I kept nodding off, even while standing up, so I was afraid to pick him up and little babies obviously needs a lot of attention but it was too scary. The fact that my mom could come with such short notice was great. I honestly don't think I could have recovered as much as I have on my own. Boyfriend's been awesome too but he has to work during the days when I needed help as well.
Anyhow, I must remember to take it slow or I'll just exhaust myself and it'll take even longer before I'm back to 'normal' again. But I definitely feel I am on the right way.
