Have realised that living in England makes you miss one of the BIG events of the year if you're a booknerd like I am - the February BOOK SALE!!
It sort of sucks as I love browsing through the different types of books I normally would not choose to buy and I usually spend a fortune but not this year. Poop!

Yeay!
I love watching the Olympics!
Don't you think the winter sport athletes seem a lot
nicer/happier
than the "summer" ones?
I think so anyway!

Partner Purgatory
Being pregnant is not always easy and I do whine and become extremely needy quite often. More often now towards "the end" than earlier. If it isn't being tired, it's back/pelvis pain or cramping muscles or just needing to be touched, hugged and loved.
BUT
It cannot be easy for the partner either and I have to say that Boyfriend has been an absolute gem through all this. He's put up with my huffing and puffing while noisily trying to roll out off bed for the 4th time to have a wee without complaining that I wake him up. He patiently waits while I have a shower to help me get in and out of the tub if I'm in pain and he's helped me put my socks and underwear on.*
I poke him in the middle of the night to rub my calf if it's cramping or to get me a drink and he does it. He'll run upstairs if I've forgotten something so I don't have to get it myself. He'll cook food if I'm tired even though I might have been at home all day. He comes along to various stores to help me figure out the difference between nappies etc when I know he's itching to get to the Apple Store. He'll look for my pregnancy pillow/cushions when I've misplaced them. He'll rub my feet in the evening while still trying to read up on stuff for work, watch telly or maintain his website.
I really do not know how single mothers do it and all cudos to them but I also think that partners may sometimes be a bit forgotten for all the hard work that they actually do. It's all very mom-focused but many of us would have a lot more difficult pregnancy without them.
So thank you honey for putting up with me when I complain about the most insignificant things or get in a strop for nothing. You're going to be an awesome daddy and I love you more than I could possibly put into words or show.

In Which I Cooked...
...Fish
Boyfriend and I gave each other a fishcooking course for x-mas and today it was time to gut, fillet and cook those little bad boys.
I was not sure I'd be able to do the gutting bit as am slightly more queasy about such things than I used to be 8 months ago but I managed pretty ok apart from the last fish where Boyfriend kindly did it for me.
It was really good fun and well worth the money! We got some nice tips on new meals as you sometime just seem to get into a rut. There was one dish in particular that I will most definitely do again, a kind of curry that was sooooo wasy and quick to do. We talked about it and we think that the curry itself would be awesome with some prawns and/or scallops if we can't be bothered with the fish.
The chef who taught us was great as well and quite a funny chap which is really good when you're about to spend 7 hours with your hands in fishguts.
My back is killing me now though but Boyfriend has given me a superb massage!! It would not have happened if I wasn't preggers so I might as well try and cash in on it.

We went up to Newcastle last Friday to visit Boyfriend's niece who's in hospital -she's been very poorly but seems to be (knock on wood...) getting better. She's so adorable and it's difficult to see her not being herself but hopefully she'll be up and about when her little cousin's popped out.
Newcastle was, what we had time to see as we were there less than 24 hours, nice and I really like how they've kept some of the really old buildings instead of just replacing them with some hopeless modern ones that'll look rubbish within 10 years. I'd definitely like to go back at some point. The only problem was, like any other city in this godforsaken country, it's damned impossible to find your way around it [by car] unless you live there.
We also, of course, stopped by IKEA and bought some stuff and ate some food. Shit, I just remembered I couldn't eat my mazarin after my food so I popped it in my handbag - Guess what's still there??
Maybe it's still edible - could kill for one, actually.

Coming of Age with Waffles
We had a bit of snow/slush the other day and first I had to wait for 40 minutes for a bus after work. Then it took the bus about 1hr to get 500 metres after which it was terminated as it was total gridlock. I got out to get to a cafe while waiting for Boyfriend as walking 5 miles with pelvic pain would have been impossible.
Anyway, as annoying as that was it was nothing compared to what was going on across the aisle from me during those very, very slooow 60 minutes. There was this uni-couple who was making out in such a way that the people behind them moved a bit further back in the bus. I am not kidding when I say that they did not come up for air more than once during those 60 minutes, which in itself is quite impressive, albeit slightly awkward making people move due to excessive saliva swapping.
Yes, I am old and I realise that and it wasn't the kissing that made me uncomfortable. It was the touching and groaning that sort of tipped it over the edge. 60 bloody minutes!! I felt as if I was intruding on them, in their room and they might as well have been nekkid.
So after having endured such a slow and uncomfortable busjourney that only took me to West Street anyway, I decided to comfort myself with a waffle, syrup and ice cream at the Forum whilst waiting for Boyfriend. I felt a lot better after that! So thank you, you horny youngsters.
