It's a fine day for criticism

I am going to be very British today and first mention the weather. It's been absolutely wonderful all day and I've even had the doors wide open to let fresh spring air in. Brilliant. And it made me fancy doing a bit of a spring clean albeit a little one but downstairs is tidy and fresh.

And so on to the Academy Awards last night! I am soooo pleased that Avatar did not do as well as people thought/wanted. The 3D-stuff was neat but as for the rest? Average, entertaining but average.

I am, however, super super happy about the Best Supporting Actor award! He made "Inglourious Basterds". I think I've said it before, I was deeply disappointed with Tarrantino when we saw this particular film but the character 'Hans Landa' was fantastically portrayed by Christoph Walz. I remember sitting there wishing for more scenes with him as his acting was absolutely outstanding. The rest was a bit of a "pffft" and in parts so bad I wanted to crawl into the movie, walk behind the set and bitch-slap Tarrantino into concentrating harder and cut out the bits that were completely redundant.

Sandra Bullock - what can I say? I adore her even though she has done some less good films, but let's be honest, which actor/actress has not had a fair few of those? She is a fine actress and seems so lovely. Yup, she's a winner alright.

Hurt Locker... Haven't seen it but been wanting to since I saw the trailer for the first time. I just knew it would be awesome but I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD.

So a little bit of that and a little bit of this. I think I would have enjoyed the Oscars had I decided to record it but I couldn't be bothered as I thought it'd be another James Cameron night just like with that awful Titanic film. It's nice to know that people aren't blinded by the mega productions and mega bucks spent on the films, at least not all of the time...*

*and before anyone says anything about LOTR - it deserved every single award it got.
