Had a doctor's appointment today - I loathe doctors. They are trouble! They either poke and prod you so it hurts or you meet a doctor and you move to a different country where he too pokes you - albeit in a slightly better way!
I have a birthmark/mole that's changed and my GP referred me to this specialist and today, he took a look at it (it's right under my left breast). I didn't want any students present as Boyfriend still knows quite a few in Med. School and I didn't want to sort of go "Hi there! Hey, look at my breast!!" to someone I recognised. Sadly, I realised that the student was a gorgeous guy who
I wouldn't have minded getting a closer look at but by then it was too late and I was left with Dr. can't-take-a-joke-and-don't-dare-ask-me-about-sunbeds-or-I'll-kill-you!
And of course, you meet someone for about a minute and then they want you to hop onto the bed and pull up your top. Men! Hmpf!
Dr: Hmmm - I don't like the look of it.
Me
(thinking):
What? There's absolutely nothing wrong with my breast, you old fart!Me
(saying): Oooh.
Dr: And no doubt you'll feel more comfortable if we remove it.
Me
(thinking):
My Breast? Is he crazy? Oooh, I get it! Is he giving me the option to choose? Removal = needles = a phobic Ems.Me: No, not really.
Dr: Well, I want it to be examined under a microscope because I don't like the look of it!
Me
(sensing there's no point in discussing this any further): Oh
Dr: Ok, I'll refer you and you'll get an appointment from hospital X's plastic surgery.
Me: Oh,I thought it could be done here.
Dr
(looking at me as if I was the dumbest person alive): No! I can't do it here, we'll need to go deep and it's quite big.
Me
(thinking):
Fuuuuuuuuck!Me
(saying): Ok! Brilliant!
Do you think I dared ask if he could throw in a lipo while he was at it? I mean, plastic surgery - it's about efficiency, isn't it?
No, I quickly walked out of the hospital, took a deep breath and called Boyfriend who promptly reminded me that this is a well known professor and if he doesn't like it - it's not a good thing. Thanks for cheering me up honey!
